Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara, who is a member of JVP was recently subjected to a special search at the Katunayake Airport. He was subjected to special scrutiny because of a tip-off, that he is bringing gold illegally while returning from Dubai.
JVP leader Anura Kumara brought this incident to Parliament. Anura Kumara lashed out at Defense Secretary Kamal Gunaratne for screening his member at the airport.
Earlier, MP Ali Rahim Sabri was arrested along with 3 kilos of gold through a similar search op based on a tip-off.
From that point of view, there is nothing wrong with JVP member retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara being checked at the airport. But Anura Kumara Dissanayake not only made it a talking point in the Parliament but also blamed the Defense Secretary.
