Basil Rajapaksa recently arrived  Sri Lanka from America. He was welcomed at the airport as a head of state. It is worthy to note, Basil returned to Sri Lanka after preparing basic ground works  to  revoke his American citizenship.

A large number of SLPP politicians were  attended the welcoming ceremony at the air port  .There are two main reasons to welcome Basil as a VIP.

1. Basil being the future presidential candidate of the SLPP
2. Preparation for the upcoming provincial elections

The rumor that SLPP and UNP will compete as one team in the upcoming provincial elections is false. Also, UNP and SJB will never compete as one team. But the SJB-UNP merger will be decided according to the results of the provincial elections.

The reform work of the UNP, which has been inactive for long, has now started. Ranil-Ravi has launched a clever plan to re-enact the UNP in the upcoming provincial election. The Ranil-Ravi plan is so covert  it absolutely operating  behind the screen .

After Ranil became President, he appointed Ruwan Wijaygunawardena as his adviser on climate change. Further He appointed the former foreign minister of Norway, Erik Solheim, and the former president of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, as his international advisers on that same  subject.

Due to this appointments, Ranil was criticized by many people. “When the country is bankrupt, Ranil is appointing Climate Advisers, what a nonsense ,  Ranil is crazy”.  Many people said.

Appointing advisers on climate change is a profound  story. Currently, Sri Lanka cannot get a any loan from countries . It is also facing a big dollar crisis, but there is no obstacle to get funds for charity and environmental projects

There are many international organizations that helps to protect the environment . Those organizations have billions of money. Ranil is now preparing to grab that money using Solheim and Nasheed.

Aid received from international organizations to protect the environment is a solution to the dollar crisis in Srilanka too . On the other hand, merit  of the money received from international community can be used for UNP election projects

UNP can surely get more than 10 lakh votes in the upcoming election. In such a situation, Sajith Premadasa will have to join UNP unconditionally.
