Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid arrived in Sri Lanka on February 2 to participate in the 75th Independence Day of Sri Lanka. The media has  reported that Abdullah Shahid involved a child sex racket in between 2nd and 4th while he was in SriLanka. Further Several photographs related to this incident too have gone viral now.

In this regard, The National Alert made an inquiry to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Official replied that they do not know anything about the news reported by the media. But we have information about Abdulla Shahid’s abuses in Sri Lanka.

In June last year, a 15-year-old girl was arrested by the Mount Lavinia Police for engaging in prostitution. The brokers involved in selling her were also arrested.

When checking her phones, the details of a large number of people who slept with her were revealed. Among them a Navy specialist doctor, a gem businessman, Two Buddhist monks , a ship captain, famous businessmen and the vice president of Mihintale local council were revealed.  Accordingly, a group of people including  Navy specialist doctor  were arrested.

Whilst investigation progressed, a hair-raising set of facts came to light. Half of the people who involved child sex racket  were Maldivian nationals. The police investigations became politicized with the disclosure of Maldivian nationals.

Most of the Maldivian nationals involved said child sex racket were members of the ruling party. Due to dirty politics of both countries  police saved the members of Maldivian ruling party and  disclosed  the names of the politicians who associate with the opposition.

Accordingly, the former finance minister of Maldives, Mohamed Ashmalee, was arrested by the police. It is definitely worth mentioning here, said girl’s phone had the current Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid’s phone number. But the police did not follow him. Moreover, police investigations mysteriously stopped.
