A group of lawyers representing a controversial religious cult plans to seek a writ application  against Deshbandu’s appointment as IGP.

However, the appointment of the IGP should be done by the President on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council.

As of now, Sri Lanka’s business community, tourism industry, professionals have come to a stand, riots that anarchy the country should not be allowed. An IGP  and an Army Commander who can quell riots has become  the demand of many.

The Indian representatives who visited Sri Lanka recently have also pointed out a number of weaknesses in the police and security forces of Sri Lanka. it is worth noting, Regional powers talked about security, but no one  was talked about human rights.
