Today in Sri Lanka there is a favorable political climate for Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara. In order for it to become a reality, first the local election or the parliamentary election should be held. Nevertheless, If a presidential election is held first, Sajith Premadasa’s political career even could be end. Facts being so, Sajith is struggling to get the local election or parliamentary election first.
But there are 2 main barriers to get the local election now.
1. Government not ready to spend money on priority for local elections
2. Public too belief that the expenditure for the local election is a waste
Sajith is raising his voice for the local election not knowing that it is not possible to get it. That is, Sajith knows that the local election will not take place at this time. Sajith’s plan is to gain an advantage by highlighting that the government is afraid of elections.
Sajith also has a plan B. That is to get the parliament election before the presidential election. Sajith should get at least 5 lakh votes in that parliamentary election.
In order to get 5 lakh votes from Colombo, Junior Premadasa has to capture Central Colombo which is the seat of Father Premadasa.
By now, the people of Central Colombo have gathered around Mujibur Rahman. This is a hindrance to Sajith’s future plans. What Sajith actually did was beheading Mujibur under the guise of local elections.
Let’s imagine for a moment that Mujibur became the mayor. Actually that is a decrease in his popularity. Because Mujibur became so popular because of his speeches in Parliament.
Proposing Mujibur to the post of mayor was a conspiracy launched by Sajith. Nalin Bandara was the first to hint that Mujibur would contest for the post of Mayor. It was at the Central Colombo working Committee meeting held on 22 Oct 2022.
As of now , Sajith has given clear cut orders to SJB MPs to attack the JVP, but Mujibur did not obey that order. Yesterday, a huge crowd attended the JVP meeting held at Maligawatte. All these factors led to the removal of Mujibur.
