Ajith Edirisinghe, a social activist from Mihinthalawa area, is presenting a series of chargers against Dr. Varawahangunavewe Dhammarathana Thera, the head and guardian of the historic Mihinthalawa Rajamaha Vihara. Those are as follows,
- Committing a homicide (a police investigation took place)
- Rape charge (there is a police complaint)
- Deploying SL Navy troop at the guest house that allocate for pilgrimages (Complaint has been lodged with Regional Secretary)
- The lands what belongs to the temple, which was given to the local residents for paddy cultivation since long time , given to his sister’s son under nepotism
- By showing himself as a VIP, he received the security of army, police and Home guards. Nevertheless he deployed police to look after his dogs and the Home guards were used to dry the coconuts.
- He has Set fire on some shops whats near the temple.
- He has destroyed many families including police constable Wasantha
