With effect from yesterday the VIP security of the Chief monks of Mihinthale has been removed. Because of the said move the opposition leader seemingly became very furious. Sajith Premadasa is threatening to sue, if the security of said monk not deployed .

Along with this article some  data has been presented about the SL police. This data was once presented to the Parliament by Sarath Weerasekara  when he was the minister in charge of police.

There are about 83000 policemen in Sri Lanka. 40,000 of them are deployed for the protection of limited category  who labeled  as VIP. The number of people coming under the VIP label is only 5500.

That means half of the entire police department is deployed to protect a few people who are considered VIPs.The remaining Policemen are deploying to the protection 22 million people and properties.

In developed countries there are  less than 5% of the troops only deploying for VIP security. But in Sri Lanka it is 47%.

It is worthy to note, VIP protection in Sri Lanka is a dirty political racket. What happens here is  politicians, religious leaders, and journalists are giving  VIP security as a bribe to tame them towards existing government.

When a person who has obtained VIP protection and if he makes any statement against  government, the VIP protection is removing very next day. Due to this, the concerned persons refrain from working and speaking against existing government.

Mihintale chief monk  behaves like a crook . By good or bad, it’s his way getting what he wants. And the politicians who do not pay tribute to him are brutally criticizing, his  VIP protection was removed as an extension of it.

Facts being so, How should the opposition leader work in such a situation? Does Sajith’s system change mean maintaining the dirty system of squandering of public money better than before?

The supreme law of any country is the Constitution. The 13th Amendment is part of the Constitution of Sri Lanka. The provincial council system comes from the 13th constitutional amendment.

Harini Amarsooriya  had recently told the media that NPP agrees with the 13th amendment. JVP’s new trends are good for the party and the country. On the other hand, JVP can win the goodwill of India.

Whether we like it or not, since 1989, the 13th Amendment has become a basic law in Sri Lanka. That is, according to the constitution, the provincial council system should be implemented . Not implementing it is a serious offense.

There is an allegation that the provincial council that, same was forcefully imposed by the India. However, if we don’t like  it,   we should bring a new amendment and abolish it .  There is no point in antagonizing at India.

Further context such scenario , An argument can be made that the Executive and the Legislature have violated the Basic Law through non-implementation 13th .

If Sri Lanka wants the support of the international community including the IMF, it must show that there is a law in the country and that the law is respected. The international community will not help a country that plays with the rule of law.

The best thing citizens should do regarding provincial councils is to refer it to Kalama Sutra. That means self-study instead of accepting it as good or bad because someone said it. For example,

1. It should have the characteristics of a federal state because the provincial councils have law-making powers.
2. But the unity of the country is preserved because the executive can dissolve the provincial councils at any time.

Citizens of this country should study themselves and take a decision about provincial councils. Just because Ranil, Sarath Weerasekera, Anuradha Yahampath or Gevidu say it should not be accepted as good or bad.

Currently, ‘Ranil-Rajapaksa’ government has set the environment to postpone the LG election. Moreover, it has been officially announced that new members will be appointed to independent commissions.

Accordingly,tenure of the  show off Election Commission Chairman Nimal Punchihewa will end. It is not wrong to say that the Election Commission is already being dysfunctional.

The final decision regarding the LG election rests with the Supreme Court. However, there is no reason for the Supreme Court to serve stubborn decision such as “March 9 election should be held”.

Currently, the Ministry of Finance has informed the court that there is no money to spend on the election. Even if the election can be held using Supreme Court jurisdiction, it will have dire consequences.

If the election is forced on the executive, it will create a conflict between the executive and the judiciary. The result is nothing but  re-emergence of oil queues and gas queues.

There is no possibility  to keep snakes in their lap (Supreme Court) those who away from them. The court will rule that the elections will be held on a date mutually agreed upon by the government and the Election Commission.

When the particular verdict comes, show off  Nimal Panchihewa will  not be  at the Election Commission but at home. There will be a new face on his seat. The new comers are  definitely fans of the government. Accordingly, the Ranil-Rajapaksa government decides the election.

Currently, government is planing to postpone the LG election and call presidential election first as per the constitution. Under general conditions  the next presidential election should be called on November 17, 2024.

However, under special clauses it can call presidential election after November 17, 2023 if the incumbent president  is running again as a candidate. Said clause as follows,

According to Article 30 (3) (a) of the constitution, if the incumbent president has an ambition to contest for the second time, a new presidential election can be called after 04 years of his tenure.

However, there is an argument to the contrary. The argument is successor president does not have the right to call the presidential election. But according to Dr. Jayampathi Wickramaratne, who drafted the 19th Constitution, a presidential election can call after November 2023.

Right now, there is a favorable situation for Sajith Premadasa in the grassroots.Sajith acts like Santa by spending Chinese money. Sajith has started his election campaign by distributing Indian buses by the Chinese money that obtained secretly. But the world knows how Sajith got the money to spend.

However, the situation may turn upside down by November. Ranil was recommended for the presidency by America. America will not stay as mute spectator until the man recommended by them be defeated. The US can approve the IMF relief package and create financial stability in Sri Lanka. In that case, no one can prevent the emergence of a favorable field for Ranil.

Adani was the second richest person in the world. But due to a report published on a website on 24 Jan 2023, he lost that position. The report against Adani was published by a website called  www.hindenburgresearch.com run by Nathan Anderson. Due to the report against Adani, the loss in one night was 5.5 billion USD

The Hindenburgre search report is a simple one that anyone can understand. They have leveled 5 main charges against Adani, namely

1. Fraudulent stock transactions /Stock Manipulation
2. Accounting irregularities
3. Financial scams
4. High debt and poor liquidity
5. Adani, being an inflated figure of political authority

Adani has 7 main companies. Its net worth rose from USD 20 billion to USD 120 billion within 3 years. Hindenburgre has shown that such growth was achieved by artificially inflating the stock value up to 819%.

However, Adani has strongly denied the Hindenburg report. Nathan Anderson, the founder of the Hindenburg Institute, was an American of Jewish origin. He is a double player. Generally Nathan Anderson exposes the mistakes of listed companies. But he does not reveal them in good faith . Nathan Anderson is  a white collar smuggler.

Nathan Anderson’s racket is connected with  ‘short selling’ transactions. Short selling is a special type of transaction that can be seen in the stock market.

Generally, when the stock price goes up, an investor makes a profit. Short selling is a way for an investor to make a profit when the stock price goes down.

If an inverter is known for certain that the share price of a company is going down, what happen in this context is  the shares are selling immediately  at the determined high price and bought back as soon as the price falls. When the account is balanced at the day end , there will be a profit in the account.

Now Nathan Anderson’s racket and master mind brain  can be understood. First he discovers some corruption in a prominent company. He knows that revealing the related corruption will affect the decrease in the company’s stock value. Accordingly, Nathan Anderson gets a big profit through Pre planned short selling transaction .

There is no room for short selling transactions in Sri Lanka. If short selling transactions are allowed, the Nathan Anderson role will be taken over by people like Dilith Jayaweera. However, short selling transactions should be introduced to Sri Lanka as well. Then those wolf  who  in the stock market with in the  sheep clothing will be exposed.
